The Omni William Penn Hotel, The Omni William Penn Hotel, located in downtown Pittsburgh, has been chosen as the hotel and site for paper sessions and the business lunch for the 2009 SIA Annual Conference.

The hotel offers a full service restaurant, coffee shop, and bagel shop for breakfast options so breakfast will not be included in the conference price.

Explore the history of the Port Authority

The Steel Plaza Light Rail Transit Station is across the street from the hotel and nearby are stops for the EBA and EBS bus routes operating on the Martin Luther King, Jr. East Busway from which riders can see a number of industrial and rail structures renovated for other uses, as well as the Norfolk Southern Railway's Pittsburgh's Line.

The Monongahela Incline is a 30 minute walk from the hotel and can also be accessed from the Light Rail System and several bus routes. “Way to Go” brochures provided to conference attendees.

Conference attendees flying to Pittsburgh can ride the 28X route from the airport (which uses a portion of the former Pennsylvania RR Panhandle Line) to get within one block of the hotel. The service runs every 20 - 30 minutes during the day and the one-way fare is $2.60 compared to $35 - $40 for a taxi.

Amtrak serves Pittsburgh with the New York-Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Pennsylvanian and the Chicago-Cleveland-Pittsburgh-Washington, DC Capitol Limited. The Amtrak Station, located below the former Union Station, is a short cab ride or a 10 -15 minute walk along Grant Street from the hotel.
